IDC – Online Learning
IDC – PADI Online Learning
Don’t get bored during lockdown. Make this your time.
Firstly, I hope that you are all safe and well during the covid-19 situation. I also hope that you are making the most of your lockdown time, watching Netflix, online gaming, eating, cleaning the house for the 100th time, or something more……
We all normally have such busy lives. With the demands of work, family and general day to day living there seems to be rarely time for ourselves. Before I became a PADI Course Director and I lived in the UK, every year I would attend evening classes at the local college, just to have me time in my demanding work schedule. Evenings were the only free time I had. I learned everything from Diving, Pottery, Archery, Indian cookery, Life drawing, wine tasting (my favourite) and even Latin American Ballroom Dancing for beginners! During these classes not only would I learn something new, but also found myself distracted from the everyday pressures of work. Moreover, some of the skills I learned helped me decide on a new career path.
With the World locked down, many of us are finding we have the gift of time on our hands. Why not use this time to learn. Maybe even acquiring new skills which, once the current situation changes, could transform your career direction. This is what our current IDC candidates are doing from their homes around the World right now.
You are already probably aware that Koh Tao is also on lockdown, and Ban’s Diving Resort unfortunately had to postpone it’s PADI courses including the April Instructor Development course (IDC)
This, however, has not stopped our April and May candidates from taking part in the IDC, even if it is from afar. They are, as we speak, working their way through the PADI IDC eLearning and studying IDC Theory, and PADI Systems and Standards, ready for when they can travel to Koh Tao in the near future. We will also be getting to know each other face to face through live webinars and theory lectures, which will keep us all occupied and away from the TV and fridge!
Meet Sarah, who had to postpone her IDC. I asked her how she is spending her time this month at home in Denmark. Here’s what she said:
”I am spending my lockdown studying for my IDC. The PADI eLearning is a fantastic tool that effortlessly prepares you for the IDC. It teaches you how to think like a leader in the dive industry and also provides a diving knowledge workbook to help you brush up your theory. I was supposed to be doing my IDC at Ban’s with Monique at the moment, but we have had to postpone due to the lockdown. As awful as the coronavirus situation is, I love having this extra time to prepare me for the IDC. It doesn’t feel like I’m wasting my time, because I’m spending it studying something I love. The eLearning, a few books, coffee, a notebook and my cat on my lab is all I need to have a good time quarantining.”
So why not use this extra time to expand your diving knowledge, maybe even change your career path like Sarah. It is easy now with the new PADI Revised IDC eLearning.
